Zahab graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2014. In 2016 Zahab commenced a hospital based 3-year full time specialist training program in Periodontics at the University of Sheffield. She was awarded a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) with Distinction in 2019. That same year, Zahab successfully completed her Membership in Periodontics and was elected as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Zahab is also a member of the British Society of Periodontology and the European Federation of Periodontology.
Whilst working in the private practice and undertaking management for periodontal patients, Zahab also enjoyed her role as a clinical teacher at The Charles Clifford Dental Hospital (University of Sheffield).
Zahab enjoys keeping up to date with the latest research. She undertook research on the effects of electronic cigarettes on the oral mucosa which was published in 2019. More recently Zahab was part of a research team (funded by Straumann) which investigated soft tissue attachments to different dental implant materials. These results were published in the Dentistry Journal 2020.
Zahab accepts referrals for the diagnosis and the management of periodontal disease. She provides a comprehensive range of non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy using minimally invasive techniques.

“I have recently undergone multiple surgeries performed by Dr Zahab Shaikh to rectify severe gum recession. I was originally referred to the Sheffield Hospital ten years ago for my gum recession problem and had extractions and braces in preparation for gum recession surgery.
However, I was not informed fully of the details and was scared of going any further.When I was referred to see Zahab last year she was absolutely brilliant. She explained to me why the recession had happened, different options on how we could improve it, all implications of surgery, showed me photographs of previous cases and totally changed my mind and put my previous fears at ease.
In total, I underwent four surgeries with Zahab, treating different areas of my gum. In every case we spoke at length beforehand where Zahab would fully explain exactly what the surgery entailed, and precisely what to expect before, during and after. I felt relaxed and comfortable while the produces took place and felt total confidence in her. I was not able to leave the surgery until she was 100% satisfied that I was ok. Zahab would contact me by telephone later in the day to ensure I was alright and reassure me with any concerns I had.
